Reservoirs / water treatment works
In addition to imparting waterproofing properties, products designed for protecting water-retaining structures for drinking water applications need to meet additional requirements. These include:
- Safe for use in contact with drinking water (UK Government Approved)
- High resistance to leaching
- Protection from infection
- Resistant to attack from condensate
- Smooth, easily cleaned surface
Several products from the Vandex cementitious waterproofing range meet these criteria and have a long history of use in waterproofing drinking water facilities worldwide. In the last 50 years, Vandex have acquired a considerable amount of expertise in applying mineral-based coatings in water tanks and are now one of the leading companies in this sensitive and specialised field. Vandex products have applications in refurbishing existing reservoirs / water tanks as well as waterproofing newbuild constructions. In refurbishment applications, a variation of the Vandex Concrete Repair System (incorporating Vandex Unimortar 1 as a repair mortar) can be used to provide a sound substrate. A waterproof coating such as Vandex Unimortar 1 and / or Vandex BB75 is then applied.
