Raindance and Raincheck Plus. Colourless Water-Repellents for Masonry.
Raindance and Raincheck Plus are colourless water-repellents for masonry based on UV-resistant siloxanes. They can be used on old and new buildings to protect against rain penetration (penetrating damp) and to help keep masonry clean. Raindance and Raincheck Plus do not block the pores in masonry so water vapour is able to escape (thus preventing the "spalling" associated with less advanced products).
Raincheck and Raincheck Plus do not affect the natural finish of the substrate (although some darkening may appear). However when rainwater lands on the treated surface it will form droplets and run off, rather than soaking into the substrate. Raindance
Raindance is supplied as a concentrate that is diluted with tap water before use. It is applied to masonry by brush or coarse spray.
The performance of Raindance is affected by highly alkaline substrates such as new concrete and newly-pointed brickwork. Where these substrates are to be treated, the concrete / mortar should be allowed to cure for at least 28 days before Raindance is applied. Alternatively, Raincheck Plus can be used.
Raincheck Plus
Raincheck Plus is a solvent-based formulation that is supplied ready-for use. It is applied to masonry by brush or coarse spray.
Raincheck Plus is alkali-resistant, and can therefore be used in situations where other siloxane-based water repellents are not suitable - e.g. new concrete and newly pointed brickwork.
Wind Speed
When considering the application of Raindance or Raincheck Plus it is important to determine how exposed the site to be treated is in relation to wind speed. Treatments may fail at wind speeds in excess of 100km/h. In these situations a rendered finish incorporating Oldroyd P Plaster Membrane should be considered.
