New Anti-Condensation Products Bolster Safeguard’s Mould-Busting Range
As the summer season becomes a distant memory, we deal with the cold winter weather by donning our jumpers and spending more time indoors. This introduces more moisture into our homes. The cold weather also results in windows staying closed, reducing the level of ventilation. This is why winter is known as ‘condensation season’.
This year, Safeguard Europe has launched a selection of new condensation-busting products to help building occupants remain free of damp and mould.
For isolated and less severe cases of mould growth brought on by condensation issues, Dryzone 100 Mould Killer Spray can kill and help remove mould on any household surface. The specially formulated biocidal cleaner is simply sprayed on to mould-affected surfaces and left to soak in before wiping away. Compared to bleach cleaners, the biocidal Dryzone 100 Mould Killer Spray will minimise mould regrowth.
Following the success of Dryzone Mould-Resistant Emulsion Paint, the biocidal technology has been concentrated into a versatile liquid additive that imparts paints, grouts and wallpaper pastes with mould-resistant properties. Once applied, the treated surfaces will resist the growth of mould for 3 years, even in areas of persistent condensation.
Condensation occurs when warm moisture-laden air comes into contact with a cold surface. Dryzone Anti-Condensation Paint has been designed to reduce condensation from forming on treated surfaces. The glass microspheres in the paint increase the time to condensation reducing the likelihood of mould growth and creating a surface that’s warmer to the touch. It is also ideal for use as an undercoat for Dryzone Mould-Resistant Emulsion Paint.
Cold walls are one of the biggest causes of condensation problems. As much as 35% of heat loss in buildings occurs through the external walls, increasing the load on heating systems and creating cold spots. When it comes to stopping condensation, just a few degrees can make a difference. Stormdry EP-Board internal insulation is only 13 mm thick but can significantly reduce heat loss through walls (up to 60% heat loss reduction when used in conjunction with Stormdry Masonry Protection Cream).
To support our expanded range of anti-condensation products, Safeguard is now able to educate organisations on condensation problems via our ‘Condensation in Buildings’ CPD seminar. The 60-minute presentation covers the causes and best methods for rectifying condensation problems.
