Waterproofing Reservoirs and Water Treatment Works

This video demonstrates how Vandex products can be used to waterproof drinking water structures

In addition to imparting waterproofing properties, products designed for protecting water-retaining structures for drinking water applications need to meet additional requirements. These include:

  • High resistance to leaching
  • Protection from infection
  • Resistant to attack from condensate
  • Smooth, easily cleaned surface

Several products from the Vandex cementitious waterproofing range meet these criteria and have a long history of use in waterproofing drinking water facilities worldwide. In the last 50 years, Vandex have acquired a considerable amount of expertise in applying mineral-based coatings in water tanks and are now one of the leading companies in this sensitive and specialised field. As the UK distributor for Vandex products, Safeguard are able to offer Vandex’s comprehensive range of products for waterproofing drinking water structures – all carrying government approval. Vandex products have applications in refurbishing existing reservoirs / water tanks as well as waterproofing newbuild constructions. In refurbishment applications, a variation of the Vandex Concrete Repair System (incorporating Vandex Unimortar 1 as a repair mortar) can be used to provide a sound substrate. A waterproof coating such as Vandex Unimortar 1 and / or Vandex BB75 is then applied.

A typical reservoir refurbishment project involving Vandex waterproofing & repair products is shown in the video below (includes audio commentary):

Vandex products are also available for protecting other water-retaining structures such as swimming pools and sewers / sewage treatment structures.
